Rolls Royce Corniche Cars

The 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche comes in 2 and 4 door versions and it is the latest model in Rolls Royce’s flagship Corniche line.  It is the fifth Corniche in the series and the most expensive on at a base price of $359,900.  The look of the luxury vehicle was patterned after the Rolls Royce Silver Seraph sedan.

Mechanically it is quite different though.  The mechanics of the Corniche V are descended from the Bentley Azure.  It is the only rolls Royce to have ever been descended from a Bentley, however several Bentleys have been descended from Rolls Royce’s.

The 2000-2002 Corniche features a 325 ho turbocharged V8..  It is capable of massive torque of up to 738 Nm at 2,100 rpm.  It uses a 4 speed automatic transmission and a top speed of 135 mph with a 0-60 time of 8 seconds.  The convertible weighs in at 6,836 lbs.  The Corniche is equipped with all the expected Rolls Royce luxuries including a Conolly Leather interior, Wilton wool carpets, chrome gauges, exotic wood trim in the choice of wood you select., auto temp controls on both sides, a 6 CD changer, auto headlights, and auto ride control.

The Corniche mystique is partly derived from the fact that its development was undertaken while RR was still in the VW AG ownership rather than BMW.  Every Corniche is hand made from start to finish.  It is a softer and more luxurious car than even the Bentley Azure.  The last Corniche was assembled in 2002 and was the last vehicle to come off the line of the Crewe plant before it switched over to producing Bentleys.
